Wed or Wet? is a historical weather research tool. The app does not create user accounts, serve personalized ads, or build advertising profiles from your searches.
Information you choose to provide
- City or ZIP searches: your search text is sent to Open-Meteo’s geocoding service, which uses GeoNames location data.
- Device location: only after you approve the browser prompt, the app uses your location to select a nearby NOAA station. Coordinates are rounded to two decimal places before use and may appear in the page URL and browser history.
- Dates and station requests: the selected date and NOAA station identifier are sent to this site’s server to retrieve historical weather observations.
The app has no user database and does not intentionally retain search histories, selected dates, or location profiles.
Analytics and cookie choices
Google Analytics 4 is optional and does not load until you select “Accept analytics.” If accepted, Google Analytics receives information about page views and interactions, along with technical information such as browser/device details and approximate location derived from an IP address. Advertising storage, Google Signals, and ad-personalization signals are disabled in the site’s tag configuration.
GA4 may set first-party cookies including _ga and _ga_P6TDMN4REJ, which Google documents with a default expiration of up to two years. Your choice is stored locally in your browser under wedorwet.analyticsConsent. It is necessary to remember the choice and is not used for tracking.
You can decline without losing any site functionality. Use the “Cookie choices” button at any time to change your decision. Revoking consent stops subsequent analytics collection, removes accessible GA cookies, and reloads the page. Where the browser exposes a Global Privacy Control signal, analytics defaults to declined.
Hosting and security
The hosting and security services may process ordinary technical data such as IP address, device/browser information, and request URLs to deliver and protect the public site.
Service providers and retention
Open-Meteo may receive a search query, IP address, and request URL. Its terms state that server logs may include coordinates and that individual logs are deleted after up to 90 days. NOAA receives server-side requests for public weather observations. If analytics is accepted, Google processes analytics data under its own terms and privacy practices. Google Analytics account-level retention settings are controlled by the site operator.
Sale, sharing, and advertising
Wed or Wet? does not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or serve personalized ads.
Children
This general-audience service is not directed to children under 13, and the app does not knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices and requests
You may decline analytics, search by city or ZIP instead of device location, deny or revoke location permission, and remove location-bearing URLs from browser history. A public privacy contact and operator identity must be added before collecting information beyond the limited processing described here.
